Use the AWS, Azure and Google Cloud egress cost calculator
Open the cloud egress cost calculator
The calculator prices a monthly volume against every provider on this page. Enter a volume in GB or TB and pick a US or EU region. For Backblaze B2 and Wasabi, enter the data you store. The defaults are 10 TB a month from a US region with 10 TB stored, for 1 month. At those defaults the AWS row shows $891.00 derived. You can also choose 12 months and a Google Cloud Premium Tier destination.
Rows stay in a fixed order, so no provider is ranked above another. A provider whose price was not retrieved shows “Not retrieved” and stays out of the lowest and highest comparison. The calculator reads the same dataset as this page, runs in the browser and stores nothing. A share link keeps your inputs.

AWS data transfer pricing
AWS prices data transfer out to the internet per GB. Its price file counts a TB as 1,024 GB and does not say how many bytes a GB holds, so this page reads a GB as 10^9 bytes derived. The price list used here was published on 2026-09-16, with a term effective 2026-06-01 S01.
| Tier, billed GB a month after the free allowance | USD per GB | USD per 1,000 GB |
|---|---|---|
| First 100 GB, global allowance | Free S01 | $0 derived |
| 0 to 10,240 GB (first 10 TB in AWS’s unit) | $0.09 S01 | $90 derived |
| 10,240 to 51,200 GB (next 40 TB) | $0.085 S01 | $85 derived |
| 51,200 to 153,600 GB (next 100 TB) | $0.07 S01 | $70 derived |
| Above 153,600 GB (over 150 TB) | $0.05 S01 | $50 derived |
The price per 1,000 GB is the price per GB times 1,000 derived. us-east-1 (US East, N. Virginia) and eu-central-1 (EU, Frankfurt) carry the same prices S02.
The 100 GB allowance is global. It applies once across all AWS services and Regions except China and GovCloud, not separately to each Region S03 S04. This page counts the tier boundaries after the allowance, because AWS describes the first tier as beyond the global free tier S01. The other reading changes nothing at 10 TB and differs by $0.50 a month at 50 TB derived.
Tier thresholds count combined usage across a list of AWS services S03, including EC2, S3, RDS and CloudWatch Logs. The calculator prices one stream. AWS’s pricing page asks customers moving more than 500 TB a month to contact it S03. The price list’s last tier has no upper limit S01. The calculator does not compute AWS or Azure costs above 500 TB. Eligible EU customers may request reduced rates under the European Data Act S03. CloudFront has its own free allowance of 1 TB a month and is outside this page S04.
AWS egress cost at 1, 10 and 50 TB
At 10 TB, AWS bills 9,900 GB, which is 10,000 GB minus the 100 GB free. The charge is 9,900 GB times $0.09, or $891.00 derived. At 1 TB the charge is $81.00, and at 50 TB it is $4,292.70 derived. The 50 TB figure is 10,240 GB at $0.09 plus 39,660 GB at $0.085 derived. The comparison section below shows all providers at the same three volumes.
Azure egress cost
Azure prices data transfer out per GB and states 1 TB = 1,000 GB on its pricing page S13. The first 100 GB a month is free to all customers in all regions S13. Azure has two routes: its Microsoft network (Microsoft Premium Global Network) and the Internet routing preference route through transit ISPs. The tables use East US. West Europe has the same ladder S11.
| Route | Tier starts at, GB a month | USD per GB |
|---|---|---|
| Microsoft network | 0 | Free S10 |
| Microsoft network | 100 | $0.087 S10 |
| Microsoft network | 10,335 | $0.083 S10 |
| Microsoft network | 51,295 | $0.07 S10 |
| Microsoft network | 153,695 | $0.05 S10 |
| Microsoft network | 512,095 | $0.05 S10 |
| Internet routing preference | 0 | Free S10 |
| Internet routing preference | 100 | $0.08 S10 |
| Internet routing preference | 10,100 | $0.065 S10 |
| Internet routing preference | 50,100 | $0.06 S10 |
| Internet routing preference | 150,100 | $0.04 S10 |
The pricing page labels the tiers in round TB steps and calls its prices estimates S13. The Retail Prices API gives numeric tier starts that differ from those labels on the Microsoft network route. This page uses the API starts S10. The tier rows show effective dates in 2022, and they are the current API prices as retrieved on 2026-10-11. Reading the page labels instead lowers the 50 TB cost by $0.94 a month and changes nothing at 10 TB derived. The Internet routing preference route matches in both sources.
At 10 TB, Azure charges 9,900 GB times $0.087, which is $861.30 on the Microsoft network route derived. On the Internet routing preference route it charges 9,900 GB times $0.08, which is $792.00 derived. In the Azure all-regions price file S12, 30 of the 78 region keys carry the East US ladder derived.
For Europe, Azure offers at-cost transfer to customers and CSP partners who move data to another data processing provider over the internet S15. The page does not state the at-cost rate, so no figure is given.
GCP egress pricing
Google Cloud prices per GiB, a unit of 2^30 bytes, which is 1.073741824 GB derived. Premium Tier is the default and prices by source region and destination group S16. Standard Tier prices by source region S17. The table shows Premium Tier from us-east4 (Northern Virginia). Every price in the table is per GiB.
| Destination group | First 1,024 GiB | Next, to 10,240 GiB | Above 10,240 GiB |
|---|---|---|---|
| North America | $0.12 | $0.11 | $0.08 S16 |
| Europe | $0.12 | $0.11 | $0.085 S16 |
| Asia, excluding Korea and Indonesia | $0.12 | $0.11 | $0.085 S16 |
| Australia, Indonesia, Korea, South America, Saudi Arabia | $0.19 | $0.18 | $0.15 S16 |
| Middle East, excluding Saudi Arabia, and Africa | $0.15 | $0.13 | $0.11 S16 |
| China, excluding Hong Kong | $0.23 | $0.22 | $0.20 S16 |
The first GiB each month is free from us-central1 (Iowa) to four destination groups, and from us-east4 to Asia only S16. The page shows no free first GiB from the Frankfurt region S16. This page shows each region as published. Standard Tier prices are the same in the three regions recorded S16: us-east4, us-central1 and europe-west3.
| Standard Tier, any recorded region | USD per GiB |
|---|---|
| First 200 GiB a month | Free S16 |
| 200 to 10,240 GiB | $0.085 S16 |
| 10,240 to 153,600 GiB | $0.065 S16 |
| Above 153,600 GiB | $0.045 S16 |
The Standard Tier allowance is 200 GiB a month per account, across all regions, on the pricing page S16. A 2023 Google blog post (dated) says 200 GB is available independently in each region S20. This page uses the pricing page. If the blog reading held, each extra region would add $17 a month of free transfer derived. Google’s pricing page says to contact sales for Standard Tier pricing beyond 500 TiB S16.
At 10 TB, 10,000 GB is 9,313.23 GiB derived. Premium Tier from us-east4 to North America costs 1,024 GiB at $0.12 plus 8,289.23 GiB at $0.11, which is $1,034.69 derived. From us-central1 the figure is $1,034.57 derived. Standard Tier costs (9,313.23 minus 200) GiB at $0.085, which is $774.62 derived.
Egress fees compared: 10 TB a month from a US region
- 4 providers tie at $0 for 10 TB: Backblaze B2, Cloudflare R2, Oracle Cloud, Wasabi.
- B2 and Wasabi are free only while stored data is large enough; 10 TB stored is assumed. Storage is billed separately.
- Google Cloud and DigitalOcean bill per GiB, so 10 TB is converted to GiB before pricing. Costs are egress only.
- Hetzner and Akamai are not shown: no US overage price was retrieved.
- OVHcloud includes US outbound traffic in instance prices. No VAT, support plan or discount.
The chart and tables compare the egress charge only, from a US region, in USD per month. Costs for volume-priced providers are after free allowances. Costs for overage-priced providers are the overage above a free pool or ratio. Each volume is converted into the provider’s own unit before pricing, and the order of rows is not a ranking.

Wasabi at 50 TB with 10 TB stored is not computed. Egress is above stored data, and Wasabi publishes no overage price S27. At 50 TB, AWS costs $4,292.70, Azure on the Microsoft network $4,182.64 and Google Cloud Premium Tier $4,042.73 derived. Google’s top Premium tier starts at 10,240 GiB at $0.08 per GiB S16.
Egress price per GB by volume tier
- AWS tier boundaries are shifted up by its 100 GB free allowance. Google Cloud tiers are converted from GiB to decimal GB.
- Azure Microsoft network tiers use the price API tier starts.
- Google Standard Tier shows its 200 GiB free allowance as a zero tier.
- Last tiers are open-ended in the price files. The AWS and Azure pages ask for contact above 500 TB, and the Google Standard Tier page above 500 TiB.
The chart converts every tier to USD per decimal GB, using each provider’s own tier boundaries. AWS boundaries are shifted up by the 100 GB allowance. Google Cloud tiers are converted from GiB. Price per decimal GB is the stated price divided by the GB in one billing unit derived.
| Provider and route | First paid tier, stated | USD per decimal GB |

Zero egress fees and included transfer
Some providers state no egress charge, a free allowance or transfer included with a plan. The four below are Oracle Cloud, Cloudflare R2, Backblaze B2 and Wasabi. Each term has a condition, and the table gives it in the provider’s words where it matters.
| Provider | What the provider states | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Oracle Cloud | First 10 TB a month of outbound data is free S21. Then $0.0085 per GB S22. | Traffic that starts in North America, Europe or the UK S22. |
| Cloudflare | “Egress (data transfer to Internet) Free” S23 | If you connect other metered services to a bucket, you may be charged by those services S23. |
| Backblaze | Free egress up to 3 times average monthly storage, then $0.01 per GB S24 | Depends on stored data. With 10 TB stored, 30,000 GB a month is free derived. |
| Wasabi | “No fees for egress or API requests” S26 | Free if monthly egress is at most active storage. Regular excess can lead Wasabi to limit or suspend service, and no overage price is published on the pages read S27. |
Backblaze also offers unlimited free egress to and through partner CDNs and compute services, which the page lists by name S24. The calculator needs your stored data to price the B2 and Wasabi rows.
Plan-included transfer: DigitalOcean, Hetzner Cloud, Akamai Cloud and OVHcloud
DigitalOcean bills $0.01 per GiB S31 beyond the transfer included with Droplet plans. The allowance is pooled across all Droplets in a team S31. App Platform is a different product at $0.02 per GiB S31 and is not modelled.
The seven Basic Droplet plans on the pricing page include 500, 1,000, 2,000, 3,000, 4,000, 5,000 and 6,000 GiB a month S30. On the same page S30, the smallest pool belongs to the 512 MiB plan at $4 a month and the largest to the 16 GiB plan at $96 a month.
Hetzner Cloud bills only outgoing traffic, according to its billing FAQ S29. The FAQ was last changed on 2020-07-07, so it is dated. Hetzner’s traffic page S36 says overage is billed in blocks of 100 MB, which is 0.0001 TB (dated). The only overage price retrieved is Singapore at $8.49 per TB S38. Included traffic depends on product and location. The table comes from the traffic page S36, last changed on 2024-05-21, which is more than 24 months before retrieval, so it is dated.
| Hetzner Cloud product | Location | Included TB a month (dated) |
|---|---|---|
| CX | EU | 20 S36 |
| CPX | EU | 20 S36 |
| CAX | EU | 20 S36 |
| CCX | EU | 20 to 60, by plan S36 |
| Cloud Load Balancer | EU | 20 S36 |
| CPX | Singapore | 0.5 to 5, by plan S36 |
| CPX | US | 1 to 5, by plan S36 |
| CCX | US and Singapore | 1 to 8, by plan S36 |
| Cloud Load Balancer | US and Singapore | 1 to 3, by plan S36 |
Akamai Cloud adds 1 TB a month of transfer to a global pool for Object Storage S33. OVHcloud includes outbound public traffic in instance prices everywhere except Singapore, Sydney and Mumbai, where each project gets 1 TB a month S34 S46. OVHcloud’s blog post of 2026-08-25 lists outbound traffic among the items that stay under the model starting 2026-10-01 S47.
Prices not retrieved
No figure is given for these items, and none is estimated.
| Item | Why it is not retrieved |
|---|---|
| Akamai Cloud overage price per GB | The akamai.com and linode.com pricing pages returned HTTP 403 to automated requests and were not bypassed. Overage is billed by service region S33. |
| Akamai Cloud Object Storage egress overage | Akamai’s documentation says the egress overage pricing is on akamai.com under Pricing S44. That site returned HTTP 403 to automated requests, so no price was read. |
| Hetzner Cloud overage per TB, EU | The price is injected by JavaScript and is not in the static page S37. |
| Hetzner Cloud overage per TB, US | The US cloud page URL returned HTTP 404 and prices are injected by JavaScript S37. |
| OVHcloud overage per GB, Singapore, Sydney and Mumbai | The page says each additional GB is charged and gives no figure S34. |
| Oracle Cloud, traffic that starts outside North America, Europe and the UK | Other part numbers were not queried S22. |
| Azure at-cost transfer rate for Europe | The page does not state the rate S15. |
Cloud egress fees and the EU Data Act
The Data Act S50 is Regulation (EU) 2023/2854 and applies from 12 September 2025 (Article 50). It speaks of switching charges, and switching charges include data egress charges (Article 2(36)). It defines data egress charges as data transfer fees for extracting data to a different provider or to on-premises infrastructure (Article 2(35)).
- Providers may not impose any switching charges S50 from 12 January 2027 (Article 29(1)).
- Reduced switching charges are allowed S50 from 11 January 2024 to 12 January 2027 (Article 29(2)). They are limited to costs directly linked to switching (Article 29(3)).
- Where a service is used in parallel with another provider’s service, data egress charges are allowed S50 “only for the purpose of passing on egress costs incurred” (Article 34(2)). The text sets no end date.
- Certain switching obligations, including the ban on switching charges, do not apply S50 to some custom-built services. The majority of main features must have been custom-built to accommodate the specific needs of an individual customer, or all components developed for one customer. The exemption holds only where the service is not offered at broad commercial scale via the provider’s service catalogue (Article 31(1)).
So the 2027-01-12 date applies to switching charges only. Charges for parallel (multi-cloud) use stay allowed at cost. Ordinary internet egress for production traffic is not a switching charge. The prices on this page and in the calculator do not change on that date.
AWS says eligible EU customers may request reduced data transfer rates for eligible use cases S03. Azure’s at-cost transfer for Europe applies to Internet egress routed over the transit ISP path, where the service supports that path S15.
Free egress when leaving AWS, Azure and Google Cloud
AWS, Azure and Google Cloud each credit egress for customers who leave. These are credits tied to ending the relationship, not discounts, so the calculator never applies them to a monthly figure. No primary announcement with a verified date was retrieved for the AWS and Azure programmes, so no announcement date is given for them. Google’s announcement post S18 carries the announcement date 2024-01-12.
| Provider | Conditions as stated |
|---|---|
| AWS | Free data transfer out when you move all of your data off AWS S05. Submit a request to AWS Customer Support at least two months before the planned switch S05. Notify AWS if the move takes more than 180 days S05. The credit covers data transfer out only, not other service charges S05. |
| Azure | Free egress for customers leaving Azure, over the internet to another cloud provider or an on-premises data center S14. You have 60 days from your start date to egress, or 180 days for a UK billing address with UK datacenters S14. The credit covers at most 60 calendar days of egress charges S14. You must cancel all Azure subscriptions on the account before you request the credit S14. |
| Google Cloud | Free data transfer when you migrate all workloads and data from the relevant service S19. A billing agent is assigned within 14 days of the Exit Notice S19. A 30-day initiation period is followed by at least 30 more days to migrate S19. Free transfers are over the internet and for listed products only S19. |
Units and conversions
Each provider states prices in its own unit. This page keeps the stated unit in every price and converts only for comparison. TB results on this page use 1 TB = 1,000 GB.
| Provider | Unit stated | How a TB or a GB is defined |
|---|---|---|
| AWS | GB | The price file counts 10 TB as 10,240 GB, so its TB is 1,024 GB; bytes per GB are not stated, so GB is read as 10^9 bytes derived |
| Azure | GB | 1 TB = 1,000 GB S13 |
| Google Cloud | GiB | 1 GiB = 2^30 bytes = 1.073741824 GB derived |
| Oracle | GB | The price list counts 10 TB as 10,240 GB; GB is read as 10^9 bytes derived |
| DigitalOcean | GiB | 1 GiB = 1.073741824 GB derived |
| Hetzner Cloud | TB | 100 MB is 0.0001 TB, so 1 TB = 1,000 GB (dated) derived |
| Backblaze | GB | Written GB on the page S24, read as 10^9 bytes |
If the AWS or Oracle GB is in fact 2^30 bytes, costs on their volume-priced tiers would change by the ratio 1.073741824 derived. The price files do not settle it.
What the comparison leaves out
The lowest-cost claims on this page compare the egress charge only. They leave out storage, compute, requests and CDN services. They also leave out transfer between regions or availability zones, interconnect and private links, and inbound transfer. VAT, support plans, commitment discounts, private pricing and the China and GovCloud regions are out too. DigitalOcean and Hetzner rows are the charge above the transfer a plan includes, and the plan has its own price.
Egress is one line of a hosting bill. For licence costs on the same hosts, see the Windows Server licensing calculator and the hypervisor licensing calculator.
Methodology summary
Every price comes from a provider’s own price file, API, page or documentation, retrieved on 2026-10-11 and traced to an entry in the source ledger. The dataset has 487 publishable rows, and the public CSV holds those rows only. Providers covered are AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Cloudflare R2, Backblaze B2, Wasabi, Hetzner Cloud, DigitalOcean, Akamai Cloud and OVHcloud.
A monthly cost is the sum over tiers of the volume in each tier times the tier price, after free allowances, with the volume first converted into the provider’s unit derived. Costs are rounded half up to the cent once, on the final figure. Per-GB prices are rounded to 6 decimal places and per-TB prices to 2. Examples use AWS us-east-1, Azure East US and Google Cloud us-east4 so that the US regions compare. The EU view uses eu-central-1, West Europe and europe-west3.
Known limits:
- Prices are USD list prices. Enterprise discounts, private pricing and marketplace deals are not modelled.
- Google Cloud prices depend on the source region and, for Premium Tier, the destination. Only us-east4, us-central1 and europe-west3 are recorded. The pricing page still carries a notice about Premium Tier increases from February 2024 S16. This page uses the tables on the same page.
- AWS tier thresholds aggregate usage across services, and the calculator prices one stream S03.
- Azure’s Microsoft network tier starts differ between the pricing page and the API, as described above.
- Hetzner included traffic is a range by plan, and DigitalOcean included transfer depends on the Droplets in the team.
- Providers outside the ledger, such as Vultr, IBM Cloud and Alibaba Cloud, are not covered.
Prices and price APIs are refreshed monthly. Leaving programmes and documentation are refreshed quarterly. The Data Act text is fixed and is re-checked on 2027-01-12. A refreshed price that moves more than 15 percent against the approved value is held for review. Hub-wide rules are on the methodology page.

Frequently asked questions
Does AWS charge egress fees?
Yes. AWS charges $0.09 per GB S01 for the first tier of data transfer out to the internet from us-east-1, after a free 100 GB each month S01. The allowance is global, not per Region S04.
What are the fees for EC2 egress?
From us-east-1, the tiers are $0.09 S01, $0.085 S01, $0.07 S01 and $0.05 S01 per GB, after the free 100 GB S01. For 10 TB a month the charge is $891.00 derived.
What is the egress cost?
It depends on the provider and the volume. For 10 TB a month from a US region, AWS charges $891.00, Azure $861.30 on the Microsoft network route and Google Cloud $1,034.69 on Premium Tier. Cloudflare R2 charges $0.00 derived.
What are data egress charges?
The EU Data Act defines them S50 as data transfer fees charged to customers for extracting their data to a different provider or to on-premises infrastructure (Article 2(35)). Providers price internet egress per unit, for example AWS at $0.09 per GB S01.
How to reduce egress cost?
This dataset records prices, not advice. It does show how the price moves by route. At 10 TB from a US region, Google Cloud Standard Tier costs $774.62 against $1,034.69 on Premium Tier derived. Azure's Internet routing preference costs $792.00 against $861.30 on the Microsoft network route derived.
What does the EU Data Act change about egress charges in 2027?
The EU Data Act removes switching charges S50 from 12 January 2027 (Article 29(1)). Data egress charges for parallel use of services stay allowed S50, limited to passing on egress costs incurred (Article 34(2)).
Is data egress free when leaving AWS, Azure or Google Cloud?
Each provider credits egress for customers who move off its platform, with conditions. AWS needs a request at least two months before the switch S05. Azure credits at most 60 calendar days of egress charges S14. Google Cloud allows a 30-day initiation period, then at least 30 more days to migrate S19.
